Rigs!
Anyone here have any good photo rigs? Any homemade ones that work well or is it really going to come down to spending the big bucks,....

hahaha...im debating making a little wooden cart that follows the car wheel (rolls w/it...) to avoid having to hang a camera, and to avoid needing to clone out a bar??
like a frame with wheels on the inside to roll w/the tire and a bar sticking out to put the camera on...hmmm

see people don't even think. All you gotta do is put the rid on your own car and follow... that way you're in control of everything and can be a chase car but get much more extreme angles... and you're not shooting back into the rig so, no cloning needed.

![]() @kcsays: What kind of ND filter are you using to stop down? I don't have one yet, because they aren't as easy to find for a 77mm. So, Im still limited to night shots. |

Question...with your rig being that far from the vehicle, how hard is it to get a decently clear and some-what tack sharp photo? Won't the pole bounce quite a bit? Some insight to this would be awesome..I'm looking to get a rig myself, but don't feel like spending 800+ on one o_O

It is definately tough. Most people don't attempt rigs this long for good reason. One tip tho, if you use a magic arm it amplifies vibrations because you are putting the load further from the pole. You cannot stop torque very well with round tubes. Directly mounting your camera via a swivel really steadies out the bounces.
Still requires quite a bit of patience. Also, make sure you get tubing not too thin not too thick so that you have the strength you need without the weight that will make it more difficult. Good luck! |
