MINE!!! My forum, all mine!!

:D

Just kidding, although I did make the suggestion.

Now, to be serious. I need some filters, especially a circular polarizer. Is B+W worth the coin, or can I get away with something from Tiffen, Hoya or ??

Also, looking at B+W, they seem to have a bunch of different options. I can't quite figure out what the differences are, other than price?

B+W is definitely good, but the hoya filters ive heard are excellent as well

if you want to get a B+W filter for the cost of hoya....try hvstar.net...no joke, theyre 50% cheaper than anywhere else. the only catch is that they come from HK, so it takes a week to get them

B+W has MRC coated kaesemann circular polarizer which is supposed to be the best...its weather sealed itself, which is huge being that its a rotating filter

Tiffen and Hoya make quality stuff... but remember you pay for what you get so if you spend $9.99, you'll get $9.99's worth.

I have a Tiffen Digital HT Ultra clear on my 70-200 F/4L and its pretty good quality, it was like $50 on ebay.

Thanks guys. I'll check out that link.

The plan is for some quality glass at some point, so the last thing I want to do is put some **** filters in the kit. Seems pretty dumb to spend $2,000 for a pro-quality lens, just to stick a POS filter on the end of it.....

77mm. My current lens is 72mm, but I'll just get an adapter, since the glass I want to get is 77mm (70-200 f/2.8 and either the 14-24 f/2.8 or 24-70 f/2.8.) I'd love to have a Nikkor PC-E too, which are all 77mm..

Getting OT now... :D
My ideal lens selection, should I win a small lottery is:
14-24 f/2.8
24-70 f/2.8
70-200 f/2.8
200-400 f/2.8

A big lottery would be a ton of primes!

What is more realistic is:
14-24 f/2.8
50mm f/1.4
70-200 f/2.8
PC-E

I know that leaves some gaps in the range, but I think I can live with it, especially with crop frame...

only thing I can say about the filters is that if you get B+W slim ones...the lens cap they come with is crap...thats the only part I hate

as for your lottery choices...

lets win...its time, ill trade you a 5 rating for a cut haha

I've got a Hoya circular polarizer... works ok, but probably could be better.

The Tiffen on my old C5050Z was definitely better than my current Hoya I think
