Anyone use 3rd party lenses?

Just ordered a Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8.

I couldnt get myself to spend the money on the Canon 24-70mm.

Hope I dont regret it. Should be here tomorrow. Giddy up!

I'm very happy with my Tokina 11-16 f/2.8

I here that going third party is all about getting a good copy of the lens. (i.e. Some are great some are not so great)

Tokina and Tamron's seem to be decent (had both before). I try and stick with Manuf. lenses when financially possible though.

sigma 24-70 f/2.8 here. I think that as long as you buy one of the higher end ones you are still good, although the image quality might not be there on every shot. not that they are bad, they just require a little more sharpening, like very little more.

The thing I really loved was having the extra 750 dollars after purchasing the 24-70 f/2.8 by sigma. i almost could have purchased their 70-200 f/2.8 as well for the price of the canon 24-70 L lens.

although if i had the money, i would have gotten the L in a heartbeat, lol.

I have a Canon 5D paired with a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 as well as their 24-60mm f/2.8. Works fine and IQ is top notch!

Yea if the price difference was smaller then I would have easily spent more to get the Canon L-lens.

But yikes, the price difference was almost $800! Think it would be overkill for my needs.

Sigma 70-200 Macro II here. Actually I have two of them. I really only notice the difference wide open. Since I am usually using it for automotive I barely ever need to shoot it wide open so there are no issues. IQ is great.
