What is everyone shooting with? (post your gear) - AutoPhotog : Photo Enthusiasts/Pros Forum

So I'm just curious who shoots with what, and what people recommend for "standard" gear for people to pick up.

My current setup-
Canon 40D
16-35mm 2.8L
50mm 1.4 USMII
70-200mm 4.0L IS
430EX II Speedlight

I really like the body, though I wish the higher ISO's weren't as fuzzy, I get some wicked graining on my photos at anything over 800.

I love my lenses and am very happy with the range I have between the 3 of them. I did kind of wanted the 2.8 IS version of the 70-200mm L but the 4.0 IS is tack sharp and I love the pictures it takes.

Also, I noticed this weekend at a wedding (just taking pics for fun) that I should probably upgrade to the 580EX II because not having the white card diffuser on the 430 just really sucks and some of the photos suffer because of it... even with an omni bouce over the flash.

since i cant be too flexible with the images i capture, a lot of my time goes into messing around in post

Hey Cyruz,

Do you think the 430 hinders your lighting indoors cuz it doesn't have the pullout reflective card like the 580?

no it has a clear diffuser that pulls out and goes over the top. The card is so much nicer

same here which is why I got the 430EXII instead of the 580

I got the 430 because I didn't need the extra power of the 580 at the time. However, now I'm looking at getting a 580 and using the 430 as a slave.
