Some of my unusual Jaguars

Here are a few of the Jags I have collected that are made of crystal, plastic and glass. There is even one that is made from coal slurry..! AND..it was made, just as the originals were, in England..!

My interest........and my justification...!!!

In about 1965, I bought a 1963 3.8 silver blue XKE coupe..(sigh..!!)...and drove it for about 4-5 years. During that time some friends gave me for Christmas a Corgi 1:43 scale model die cast that was nearly an exact replica of the car I was driving...a neat gift..!

Time passed...to about 1995, I had long ago sold my Jag, but bought another die cast Jag....then...another...and another...and...well, you know the rest..!! Today I have about 70 of them...scales from 1:87 (HO), maybe 30 in 1:43, another dozen in 1:24, probably that many in 1:18 and a few in 1:16 and 1:8..! And..NONE of them require service...plus there are NO oil leaks under them in the display cases...a big relief! I also owned 2 Austin Healeys before the XKE..the Big Healeys...and have about 50 of those as well..and a few other of the European / English cars from the 60's.

And they say you can't have a second childhood......!!!!

This photo shows about a third of my collection....I am working on 'dioramas' for these cars...So... the top shelf in the photo is the "Mid-Life Motors", a used car lot for Jags, Healeys, etc. The center photo shows the
"1:18 Garage", with a group of cars awaiting service...and some expensive, hard to find parts!! The lower one will be a "LeMans Start"...depicting the glory days of that track...and that famous running start.

I thought this would be a good way to display my collection without just having them lined up row after row in cases...kind of gives a 'story line' to the whole group.
