a few shots i've taken over the past couple years at the old packard auto plant. theres plenty more where that came from, and other locations too.

Excellent series... this is not how I remember Detroit (but that cuz I have family in Bloomfield Hills in the plush suburbs) but I know this city is in shambles right now. Great representation.

ahh, i live in oakland township, about 25 minutes NE of birmingham/bloomfield. i can attest that it is VERY different. :D

how 'bout a few from the old train station?? warning, i used to be an HDR whore.

note the random dude on the roof. nope, no idea who he was. there are always random people in there though.

that's canada on the other side of the river. taken from the roof.

you use HDR well... mine always tended to be a little more overdone.

its been a while, but i find that if you increase both the blacks and whites while tonemapping, as well as lower the gamma, it becomes much more realistic. you lose some detail, but i think it looks much better.

Do you tonemap then edit in Lightroom or ACR?

i use photomatix pro to HDR and tonemap. after that, i edit them in LR.

heres another HDR. i'll admit though, sometimes they still look fake.

HDR of an abandoned zoo.

same zoo a couple months ago.

are you f-ing serious!?!?! wow those are some amazing locations to just wander around and shoot. you never get bothered going into the buildings and such? i wish i had stuff like that out here to shoot...looks amazing.

Shots are great. Editing really makes them stick out. Subject is awesome as well. Love the Resident Evil desolate vibe in most.

I'm in Ann Arbor right now.

Your photos are the very definition of modern day Detroit.

Its unfortunate that the place is like this, but your pictures capture the essence of a city that is definitely trying to rebound.

Wow it looks like there's just so many places to explore. Its unfortunate that the city had to come to this but I do love abandoned buildings and the interesting things that are inside.

im trying to get someone to go out with me today and get a few shots, considering it is supposed to be 63 degrees today, and its mid november......and that aint right. i feel like i should be shoveling snow right now. but i was in ann arbor the last two days.

Great urban shots! Know of any good locations in the Ann Arbor Yipsi area? I work in Ann Arbor ALOT (enough to have an apartment). And would like to go out an practice urban landscapes.
