New from AZ - AutoPhotog : Photo Enthusiasts/Pros Forum

Hello everyone! I'm from AZ and I was referred to this forum by a friend. I'm not a "photographer" per say, but I really enjoy taking pictures of nothing other than my baby (my car). I have pictures piled upon pictures of my 2005 Mazda3 hatchback.

I only have a little point and shoot camera that I've had for 3 years now. It gets the job done, especially when I have a tripod. But I long for a better camera, like a DSLR, or maybe even a better point and shoot hehe! I don't know much about photography, but I'm trying to learn. Any pointers would be good to hear. Here's a couple of my best ones:

I shoot P&S... Need to work on your white balance and light metering... But it looks good

Welcome to the forums... pics don't look too bad with a P&S. With a DSLR you'll be able to manipulate the camera more so the images come out a little better.

Your brain and knowledge of photography (even noobies) > auto setting on a camera.

Welcome! What part of AZ do you live in? I'm currently in Flagstaff but I spend about 1/3 of my time down in Tempe.

I'm in Peoria. I used to live in Flagstaff when I went to NAU for 2 years. My boyfriend and I like to visit when we can

I have friends in Tempe, so I go out there sometimes.

Oh nice! I think I am going to try to transfer to ASU next year.. NAU just isn't for me.. and it's hard when my boyfriend is in Tempe.

I know how that is! My ex was going to NAU still when I decided to move back home. Somehow we made it one year with me down here and him up there (with me doing ALL the driving lol). But I'm done with long distance lol.

I do probably 75% of the driving... just because Flagstaff sucks! I actually met him while I was visiting Phoenix and living in Flagstaff.... so we've never known any different. There is *talk* of me moving down there next year and if we can make some money then possibly we'd just go to school and both work for the company he started and yeah... but that's awhile away.. kinda. we'll see... it does suck though I'm over it!
