Looking at getting the Nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S and an SU-800 commander for the flash so I can do off camera lighting. And maybe another SB-600 somewhere down the road. Really wanna get in to strobist type stuff.

Umm, Nikon has quite a few FF options. None of them terribly affordable, but they've got 4 available now (D700, D3, D3s, D3x.)

So I'm a little confused by this statement....

Ive only been shooting for a few months so im working with a Nikon D40 / Targus Gripped and 18-55 Lens and Nikon 50mm 1.8 and of course a circular polarizer . . the Florida sun is quite a dick
