Wide angle vs normal
I want a nice lens for car photography and recently am comparing the following 2 :
Nikon | Wide Angle AF Nikkor 35mm f/2.0D Autofocus Lens | 1923 and Nikon | AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G DX Lens | 2183 | B&H Photo Video I do want a wider view, but would I really benefit from the extra cost? Thanks in advance. I curently have the stock 18-135 lens and a 70-300mm lens as well. |

Well, neither of those lenses are really "wide" angle on what I'm assuming is a crop sensor Nikon. I'm not sure what you are shooting, but I'm guessing an APS-C sensor with a 1.5 crop factor. So these 35mm lenses are really 53mm equivalent, which is just about what is considered a "normal" lens on a FF or 35mm film body.
Your 18-135 is already significantly "wider" than those lenses, but still not really "wide" when using the 1.5 APS-C sensor (27mm equivalent.) To get real wide angle on a crop body, you need something like the Nikon 12-24 or the Tokina 11-16. Both of course are way more money than the lenses you listed (and slower too, with the Nikon an f4 and the Tokina an f2.8.) Check BillLee's post, as he recently got the 35mm f1.8 DX lens and some sample shots.

tokina 11-16 F/2.8. the 2.8 sets it apart from all other ultra-wide lenses. i shoot a sigma 10-20 F/4-5.6. while i like it, the new tokina is just that much better. i think its THE wide angle to get.
heres an example of the silly stuff you can do at 10mm. :D
