yeah well I KNOW I like the 1st one better (not even sure why I posed the 2nd one) but I was wondering if the rest of the shot looked ok (contrast, crop, lighting, ect...)

Colors look a tad flat to me...also, I'm not sure about the composition on it..*shrug*

Its underexposed and very flat. If you post up a larger size I can do a quick edit to give you an idea of how you can improve it

well the guitar gets blown out if I go up too much more on the exposure. I will tweak some contrast into it. As for composition Stupey, you can't photoshop that so I'm stuck with what I was able to take.

^^^ looks much better. there is no real need for that amp or speaker behind him, especially since its so dark.

i agree, i didn't crop or do anything i just auto leveled it and posted. However, I don't like that the guitar now looks blow out on the edges...

Normally the guitar would have been masked off, but the file was so small I just did it quickly to show you how much better the skin tones could get

and i agree that part is better but the noise is also a lot more apparent.
