meh, they personally don't do much for me....
What is the point of them? What is the subject? Why am I looking at them? I don't feel like they have a purpose really.

fair enough. your right, i should have included an explination.
I work for the marketing and communications department on campus, so i am always trying to get stock photo's to use on the schools website, pamphlets, magizines ect. part of my assignment is, well lit night shots, promoting safety on campus, not that much happens here, but it could. middle one is students going to and from our new union, which is trying to promote being green, the only think i dont have in the pics which i wish i would have, is bhsu paraphanelia (sp? :S) a flag or symbol or something.

I think both of the evening pics...you might try taking out the metal tree posts by the small pine in the first shot. They are distracting.
I would have liked to have seen the windmill facing inward-toward the inside the picture...as it sits, I didn't even notice it until you talked about being green, since the tree and the people took up a majority of my initial impression. The Windmill is perpendicular, and I like that! There is a blue blurb on the left of the 3rd pic...draws my eye to it...can you desaturate it? Is there a building, behind you...where you can take an elevated picture of the windmill?

uh yeah, i cant really control which way the wind turbine faces. and if i had turned to where it was facing in that particular pic, it wouldnt have turned out, soon as spring hits ill have ample opp. to retake some pics, since i am still working on stock footage.
good eye on the tree suports, didnt notice them. and again didnt notice the blue. thanks cj

Ok that's better now.
I would say get shots of a group walking at night, smiling, laughing... enjoying a fun time. That way it makes it LOOK safe. I think the trick would be to include PARTS of the buildings while not really trying to focus in on them. Take this for example: ![]() this is kinda what I think you should be trying to do. Maybe more broad - wide so you can tell what part of campus they are on but along the same lines. For the "green" thing, how about a shot of a student recycling a water bottle or a coffee cup in the proper receptacle outside/inside the new union? I guess my point is focus a little more on the action of what everyone is doing in relation to what you're trying to promote in the photo rather than just giving a general overview of a scene. Unless the object is a general overview of the campus in which case focus more on hitting up the "special" places or things on campus that make it unique or easily recognizable to students. Bring a diffused flash for the night stuff, (like with an omnibounce or even a note card and rubber band tying it around the back of the flash) and just walk up to people and say "Hey I'm shooting for the school, can I snap a pic or 2 of you guys walking and talking?"
