Not bad but did you use a flash? cuz I think these pics definitely needed one. A lot of times people only thing of a flash as a tool to use when its too dark out, however in portrait photography a flash acts as a "fill" on faces and clothes as to kick out minor shadows that are cast on the subject.
There is nothing wrong with shooting w/o a flash for portraits, I usually prefer it too. You just need to have the right conditions, use the sun to naturally cast shadows like at about 3 or 9 o'clock to you facing the subject (almost all the way to the right or left.. never behind you cuz that causes bad squinting). read Using fill flash in natural light | DigicamGuides.com Below is a shot from the company I used to shoot for (don't think it was mine specifically though). See how her face is evenly lit yet there is still a natural light feeling of the photo, its not lit up by the flash but the flash is "filling" in some of the shadowing, specifically on her face.

also try to be aware of the background and what its doing behind the subject. Those steel poles are kind of neat little natural frames but in both shots they seem to cut off the subjects that are behind them. There is also a weird corner in one of the shots that looks like it splits the guy in 1/2.
The two closeups are much better, good bokeh (Depth of Field) but make sure they are exposed correctly.

glad you like em!
I can send you the PSD files I adjusted the exposure, contrast, curves, and sharpened some parts of the photo (notably the baby's eyes), and added a smidge of sepia tone
